]]>As required under the EU Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (EmpCo), the complete certification scheme requirements must be publicly available, and the certification process must be accessible to non-members, by 27 September 2026. WFTO is therefore updating its website and related materials accordingly.
As part of this week’s update, we are also sharing guidance on making Fair Trade claims under WFTO Certification. The document explains how certification can be referred to and includes recommended wording:
Support with your Self-Assessment Report
For organisations currently working on their Self-Assessment Report (SAR), WFTO can provide feedback before the completed report is submitted to SGS. Those seeking feedback are invited to send their completed SAR to the Monitoring Officer responsible for their region:
Africa and Middle East: Michael Sarcauga — michael@wfto.com
Asia and Pacific: Rodrigo Allende — rodrigo@wfto.com
Europe and Latin America: Sandra García — sandra@wfto.co
We will continue to provide regular updates as the remaining elements of the WFTO Certification System are finalised and made available.
Thank you for your continued engagement with this process.

]]>About the SAR Datasheet
Please note that the Certification Body does not necessarily require you to use the SAR Datasheet template. The information that would normally be part of the datasheet, such as the number of your suppliers, information on Fair Trade products, etc., can also be provided through other documentation.
The SAR Datasheet template is therefore intended as a supporting tool to help you identify and prepare some of the information that may be requested during the certification process.
Pre-filled SAR Form
As always, if you would like to receive a pre-filled SAR form, you can contact us at francesca@wfto.com, and we will be happy to provide it.
If you have already submitted your SAR
If you have already submitted your SAR to SGS, you do not need to use the updated version. If any additional information is needed, SGS will contact you directly.
If you have any questions about the updated SAR or Datasheet, please feel free to reach out to Francesca using the email address provided above.

]]>Trade Aid New Zealand is a social enterprise founded in 1973 that creates fairness in trade by sourcing and wholesaling Fair Trade food and artisan products from small-scale producers across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Through long-term partnerships with producer organisations, Trade Aid also educates New Zealand consumers and businesses about Fair Trade and ethical consumption.
If your organisation produces Fair Trade Certified matcha powder, or you know of a producer who may be interested in this opportunity, please contact our Monitoring Officer, Sandra Garcia, at sandra@wfto.com.
